Fuck AIPAC

The issue I have with all that growth is that it’s never in service of helping make the art sphere better. It’s never about exposing people to new art, or challenging people’s perceptions etc. I won’t fault people for enjoying that kind of content but ultimately it’s really not for me.

This results in them having to resort to whatever attention grabbing gimmicky tactic they need to do in order to survive. They end up being forced into talking almost exclusively about mainstream works and can’t really deviate too far from it or else they risk losing their audience.

And in a way that endless growth ends up becoming a trap in and of itself. Once they start building their brand by hiring editors and artists, they more or less have created their own miniature enterprise with employees. So they get stuck having to maximize growth to keep it all afloat.

Tbh my issue with most online arts criticism is that the vast majority of it is largely focused on building the critics personal brand rather than facilitating any interesting or meaningful discussions on art. A lot of online critics prioritize endless growth over substance.

I mean it’s one banana Jess, what could it cost? 10 dollars?

Gonna check with one of the other sister branches if they’d be ok with giving me 2 or 3 shifts to even out my schedule again. I tend to work best when I have structure.

The first thing that absolutely needs to happen is that every single fuel executive and lobbyist needs to be put on trial for crimes against all life on Earth. Simultaneously we need to focus on maximizing coastal desalination, building green infrastructure grids, increasing urban greenery etc.

The world is going to get hotter and there’s nothing we can do about it, but that doesn’t mean that we all are going to be killed. There’s actually quite a lot of things we can do to adapt, survive and eventually reverse climate change. While we won’t experience it, at least our descendants will.

Sketching on copy paper makes me feel nostalgic! I have a lot of fond memories swiping sheets of paper from either school or the family printer in order to draw in my bedroom late at night. I think most of my oldest drawings were done on single sheets of copy paper lol. Glad I saved most of them!

For Saffron, while he is in fact South Asian coded, I always intended him to be a universal vehicle for human culture and anthropology, so if you choose to draw him, feel free to incorporate your own ethnic heritage into your piece! - [ah]
