It can be that. Or look at low-information content that seems to exist just to exist. Or text that just seems to rephrase one central idea without exploring it in depth. But the problem is that the 90th percentile of ai content is about as good as the 50th percentile of human-made content.

Yeah the trouble is that 90th percentile of ai crud is about as good as the middle 30% of human-created works.

And again for day job reasons I've taught myself what to look for. Not everyone has had to do this.

This is true, although in the case of ai generated text, there are certain red flags that can prompt you to look at something more skeptically.

And if you think you're not vulnerable because you're smart or skeptical, I unfortunately have news for you.

There are things you can do to make yourself less vulnerable but you're only human, and a constant state of vigilance is hard to sustain.

It's like blaming people for falling victim to scams.

I have a lot of freedom to push back against ai at work but if I didn't have a steady biweekly paycheck and health insurance I'd probably feel the pressure more.

I still think ai is bad and that people should avoid using it when at all possible but I do feel a degree of sympathy for freelancers who support themselves making online videos. That's a really competitive, unhealthy ecosystem and I understand why the temptation exists.

(It's super common for ai-generated nonfiction articles to end with a banal statement about the subject's legacy and imo it's just odd to talk like that about a dog in general.)

We Rate Dogs ended a video with a phrase like "ensuring the legacy" (of a dog??) and I was like :\
