Now we are ready to take the next step. Unlike herbaceous Arabidopsis, trees produce proportionally much more wood than phloem because they need the extra wood to support their massive stems and branches. 6/x

So, what is WOODIER about? Over the years, our group has focused on understanding how the vascular cambium produces wood and phloem in Arabidopsis. This work has given us a detailed understanding of the molecular mechanisms that drive vascular tissue formation. 5/x
