Elected U.S. Senator for Washington, DC. Fighting for the rights of 700k+ tax paying Americans. Connect with my office at https://senatorjaindc.com/

Busy days on the Hill fighting for DC. I rallied with advocates @oversightdemocrats.bsky.social shadow hearing on Trump's attacks on DC, lobbied Congress to vote NO on HR 9720, and we packed the hearing room as the bill was marked up. My message is clear: only Washingtonians govern Washingtonians.

East Potomac Park belongs to the people of DC, not to the President and his wealthy friends. Trump wants to turn this into a luxury playground for the ultra-rich. On Saturday, Washingtonians came out to Hains Point to say loud and clear: This park is not for sale #SaveEastPo

Trump wants to turn East Potomac Park into an luxury destination for his rich & powerful friends. But DC is fighting back! I was proud to stand with @wabadc @saveeastpo and our DC community at Hains Point today to tell Donald Trump: East Potomac Park is not for sale. 🚲⛳️🌸

🚨🚨The House Oversight Committee is voting on Wednesday on a bill that would functionally end DC Home Rule. It would stop DC from making ANY changes to our tax code without congressional approval, making it impossible to govern ourselves 🚨 🚨 www.notus.org/metro/dc-tax...

New House Bill Would Block D.C. From Raising TaxesThe bill, which faces an uphill battle in the Senate, would keep the D.C. Council from raising taxes without approval from Congress.www.notus.org

You would never see National Guard troops deployed to any other place in the US without local representatives even knowing. DC residents deserve the same respect as everyone else. Read my full comments on the 2029 extension in @npr.org : www.npr.org/2026/07/14/n...

More affordable housing = lower housing costs. Congress is finally acting to allow localities to build more housing. Let’s seize this momentum, replace the federal Height Act with local control, and build the future our residents deserve.

The conflict? DC is still held back by a century-old federal restriction: The Height Act. Originally meant to protect monument views, it now acts as an artificial ceiling on our city’s growth. We can’t meet our housing goals while federal restrictions cap our potential.

This legislation didn’t just pass–it delivered an overwhelming mandate for change: 🏛️ House victory: 358 to 32 votes 🏛️ Senate clearance: 85 to 5 margin The message from across the political spectrum is crystal clear: the housing crisis demands immediate, sweeping reform.

At its core, the ROAD to Housing Act (HR 6644) strips away outdated red tape to make building affordable homes faster and cheaper for working families nationwide. But while the federal government increases housing production, federal restrictions here in DC do the opposite.

National housing reform is officially here, and it’s time to ask a critical question: Is DC’s Height Act next? The overwhelming bipartisan support for the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act gives us a clear, undeniable roadmap for DC’s economic survival.

I am sorry to report that Governor Josh Green of Hawaii has joined the Trump occupation of DC and sent National Guard troops here without the consent of our local government. These troops are a useless waste of money. Gov. Green, bring your troops home NOW

"Jain added that if Whitmer 'actually believed her own stated mission, she’d have brought her troops home the moment evidence surfaced that they were part of Trump’s broader occupation of D.C.'” @govwhitmer.bsky.social needs to send the MI National Guard home NOW michiganadvance.com/2026/07/09/w...

Washington, D.C.’s ‘shadow senator’ calls on Gretchen Whitmer to remove National Guard troops • Michigan AdvanceGov. The Height Act gives Trump and ONLY Trump full reign to shape DC's skyline. It is wrong. We need to replace the federal Height Act with local height restrictions so the people who live in DC can shape our skyline and control our housing policy www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Trump’s proposed triumphal arch clears another key hurdleThe National Capital Planning Commission, led by the president’s allies, voted to advance the project near Arlington Cemetery, tabling a height question for later.www.washingtonpost.com

Loved celebrating the 4th with DC neighbors! While America celebrated 250 years of independence from taxation without representation, nearly 700k of us still live under that colonial mandate. We deserve an equal voice. #DCStatehood 📸: Damien Hubert / B. Minor Enterprises, LLC

Today we celebrate the birth of a great nation founded on the idea that no one should be taxed without representation, and we rededicate ourselves to ensuring it fulfills that promise and gives voting representation through #DCStatehood to the 700,000+ residents of DC. Happy Independence Day!
