Conversely, I thought Motoko's plot was handled extremely well and gave us enough time to see more of her character. I especially loved seeing her hot-headed nature completely blow her own cover, only for her cunning to completely outclass her target.

Batou's storyline this week, focusing on him getting vengeance for his slain student, was very effective, but it was a bit difficult to follow at the pace the episode was moving. It was also nice to see Togusa echo the Major's lesson from a couple of weeks ago back at Batou.

This was the first episode that I legitimately had to watch twice just to catch everything the show was throwing at me. The team was breezing through important plot details so quickly that there were times on my first watch when it felt like I was watching at 2x speed.

Tani and Suzuki kissed without incident! It's a Valentine's Day miracle!

Two down, one to go! Poor Taira is going to spend the next month in his own head trying to figure out what to do for White Day!

It was so sweet to see Nishi confess her feelings first! The tension building ever since they both realized how they felt was so palpable throughout this date, so I totally get why she wanted to get out of there ASAP! Also, the truck gag might be the hardest this show has ever made me laugh.

In just a single episode, we got so much insight into who Töregene is and why Fatima feels she can trust her. The parallels between the two of them are so effective in helping Fatima reconnect with her hatred for the Mongols and her vow to reclaim what was stolen from her.

Töregene's backstory and the story of the Merkit were wonderfully done. Between Dayir's vision quest and the Merkit's final stand, the visuals of this episode will leave a lasting impression. I hope we get to see what has become of Khulan and whether she will become an ally for Fatima as well.

I really love that they never show Genghis Khan's face. Not allowing him to be depicted in the storybook style of the rest of the show gives him an air of menace that I don't think would be possible if we actually saw him.

I missed Gabby so much! Seeing her justified rage at Akio's betrayal and how unhinged she got when talking about Asa and what has been taken from her was really great stuff. Now I need her and Asa to go save Yuru! Please and thank you!

This is pretty messed up, right? We've established that Daemons are sentient beings with their own wants and desires, yet Gonzou uses Asa to break their contracts, brainwashes them with his own Daemons, and adds them to his ever-growing stockpile.

For sure! At least Teshie looked worse for wear after her all-nighter. Yasumi's looking fresh as a daisy!

I love seeing Yasumi's confidence continue to grow, but I do hope we still get to see more of the creative process behind this and their Comiket manga. That aspect felt pretty heavily sidelined this episode, especially the logistics of releasing a brand new work on the same day it's finished.

Fujimori's struggles communicating were so beautifully expressed here, and I love how understanding her mother was. It's an interesting storytelling choice to place these huge emotional moments halfway through each episode, but it means I spend the entire second half emotionally exhausted.

I love how seamlessly Hikaru has settled into the club already. Watching her dismantle all of Teshie's concerns about attending the convention, then casually producing the reservations to get Fujimori's mother to back down, was so satisfying!

Tayama's reaction to him asking about the font was so good! She digs the old man glasses!😂

I totally forgot about the fuchikoma! Loved seeing it pop in for the save!

Prestige airtime for this show would have been amazing!
