EU membership is about so much more than visa-free travel and smoother border processes. But travel makes it real.

Criticising long queues at Schengen borders doesn’t “break” or “undermine” Schengen. It’s just an observation that queues and too much border friction are bad for everyone. Ironically it’s an endorsement of Schengen.

It’s OK to be anti-Brexit, pro-EU and still to criticise the queues at the Schengen border. Queues are bad for everyone. @savefom.bsky.social

At the end of the day, the only difference between a legal and an illegal immigrant is that one has been given permission. Saying “no” more often does nothing to reduce illegal immigration. It just makes it harder for law abiding people to enjoy international mobility. FOM has rules. #SaveFOM

One of the saddest things I find about Brexit is how it has made a small number of EU citizens caught up in the mess feel very angry or negative about the UK.

You've spent decades demonstrating that your values are fundamentally incompatible with our values. I'd rather you accepted that with good grace, went off and did your own thing, and let us get on with ours. The last thing we need is to let you in only for you to screw it up for all of us
