Peat in its natural state is fire resistant. Healthy boglands protect adjacent forests and grasslands from drought and fire. But under a warming climate and mismanagement, peat fires can wreak havoc and burn for months. Important thread by @davidrvetter.bsky.social

I join you from the Blaenavon wildfire in Southeast Wales, brought to you by BP, Shell and Equinor. Though it does not look dramatic, the fire has been out of control for days - for a very particular reason. 🧵

A week late but excited to share @nationalacademies.org report on Attribution of Extreme Events and their Impacts. Had the opportunity to work with amazing colleagues to reflect on the incredible progress in EEA and review the breadth of applications @climate-done.bsky.social @jmarlon.bsky.social

Also, he describes himself as "professor in exile" who quit academia because of DEI. I don't have any specific knowledge of his case, but it sounds like bullsh*t to me. He quit right when he was up for tenure. From public sources, his case seems quite weak. bsky.app/profile/davi...

I would hide this profile if I were him. It’s so embarrassing. It’s not a surprise he didn’t get tenure. What is surprising is that he got hired in the first place.
