Highly recommend this one. An excellent idea from David and Trevor to take some A Few Acres of Snow inspiration and apply it to this historical theme, and it's been cool to see it demoed at the various recent SDHist events.

Late to this, but I really enjoyed this review of Infernal Machine. Smart analysis of the game and the historical situation from a variety of angles. (And the "Holy Diver" references throughout were very well done.)

Played Fate of the Fellowship with friends tonight! Fun post-con game. We had seven people, so we did three teams of two (one character each, but still choosing between 4 and 1 actions) and one player with two characters. It worked great, and we saved Middle Earth! (But barely.)

A nice reception at home from General Hugs and Corporal Chaos. (Our tortoise, Professor Van Helsing, is outside, and not pictured. But he's probably fine with me being home too.)

I'm addicted to detective novels. My current obsession is the Nero Wolfe series from Rex Stout, delightful for thinking-and-crimesolving, but also food discussions. Just finished "Too Many Cooks" (incredible cooking-related murder), now on "The Rubber Band," which has this great food description.

#SDHistConNorth2026 was one of my personal favourite convention experiences. My teaches/plays were a great mix of lovely weird games (Confederate Rails, O Canada, High Treason, Pacific Typhoon) and popular bangers (Liberty or Death, Tank Duel, Fate of the Fellowship, Fellowship trick-taking).

Sad to see that Sam Neill has passed. Incredible actor in so many movies and roles, but boy, "Hunt For Red October" will always stand out to me.
