So this is how I'm tackling the size mismatch snafu: on far right, my original csp file. Left: the new, corrected one, copying as much as I can (yay big screen). I'm simplifying *greatly* my messy layer structure to get this done asap. This thing should already be at the printer. Wish me luck. 🥹

Soo, major rookie mistakes were made. My comics' artwork wasn't made to the exact specifications of the chosen printer and here I am moaning about repositioning everything and remake most of the coloring. 😭 Fortunately it is just about twenty pages, but it still sucks. Lesson learned. 🥲

Even if many kids have smartphones these days (they shouldn't imo) this got me in sort of a dilemma to resolve a remote conversation on my forthcoming comics work. I figured out they could have basic Nokia-like things for calls so I went with it. The sort of phone we all had in the 90s. #kidscomics

Currently I’ve been between B and C, and I know success if any won’t be immediate and if I run out of money before time I’ll have to settle back for a day job (where, in my 50s?). But I’m of the mind that I’ll rather try and fail, than wallow in what-if land forever. 🤞🔥

3 different potential reasons to go full-time indie: a) you were part-time and had success and now want to build on that b) you have enough money to risk 1-2 years of work with no guarantee of success c) you have no other option/feel compelled in your soul. Again no guarantees.

Today's duty: ink, color and hopefully finish the cover of my TBA selfpub comic. I'm convinced books DO get judged by their covers so I'm aiming for extra finesse on all details. 🤞

You don't need a fancy sketchbook. Or fancy pencils. or pens. Heck, not even paper if you're so determined. And very specially not eye-aye. The will of intention —to draw, to goand learn through the process— is the important thing. Everything else are just refinements. ✏️

Big animation studios are cooked. Scorched earth. Done. Up-and-coming talents in the field better start thinking in terms of forming indie cluster alliances rather than pretend to get a job where there won't likely be any. 🥹

mass layoffs at Pixar despite Toy Story 5 about to cross $1 billion at the box office. there is simply no amount of money that will make corporations happy enough to not upend people’s lives.

And know what? On principle, ça me semble très bien. The Internet is a horrid place for kids and none of my kidlit projects involve them being online anyway. Au contraire 🧐 Now, that age verification thing comes with a whole set of attached strings though...
