I know things and squeak a lot. Begrudgingly Seattle.

Conspiracy theory, but after Spain passed a due process law for migrants earlier in July, I wonder which far right organization flooded Morrocan social media with (probably AI generated) videos of migrants safely making it to Ceuta, Spain for the intent of manufacturing a real migrant surge.

One other mind-expanding thought that came out of reading this: the purpose of education isn't to just teach students how to do hard things, it's to develop student's habits and thinking so that hard things become easy.

It's pretty fascinating stuff and really shows how education is often a very unscientific, white-collar style career about KPIs and metrics and trends because teachers aren't held accountable to long term student success, only pass/fail rates. Also good context on how people actually learn to read.

This is like after big scale hollywood theaters collapsed in the late 60s and movie theaters switched to low budget reruns and softcore porn, it spawned an entire industry of cinephiles buying their own reel to reel home projectors to watch classics, which lasted all the way until HDR blu rays.

Finding out that an entire generation of kids were taught how to 'read' by predicting what they think a sentence means by context clues instead of learning what words meant specifically kinda explains a lot of behavior when you meet people say "Well it's not what you said, it's how you said it"

Starting a drone hunting sport where we order $1 cookies to a shack in the woods and a bunch of contestants armed with rifles try to rack up the biggest losses for doordash.

The Washington Post

DoorDash was approved by the Federal Aviation Administration to commercially operate a drone delivery service. The company said that in a 2025 pilot, the drones could deliver in an average of 25 minutes. https://wapo.st/4fvxO58
