Pretty pleased with myself that it's been years now since I smoked cigarettes bar the odd bad choice when under the influence.

#OnThisDay in 1978: New Japan: Nippon Budokan, Tokyo: Antonio Inoki and WWWF Heavyweight Champion Bob Backlund fought to a 1-1 draw over three falls. Inoki won the first with the Octopus Hold, Backlund took the second, and the deciding fall went to the time limit.

A menu from Ed “Strangler” Lewis’s café in Glendale, California. The former worlds champion became a popular local restaurateur. In 1937, Woody Guthrie briefly worked there as a dishwasher until lye ruined a sink full of aluminium pans and cost him the job.

I believe this is from Gorilla Monsoon’s personal collection, this portrait/comic strip promoted his first match with Bruno Sammartino at Roosevelt Stadium in October 1963. Monsoon replaced Buddy Rogers, whose planned return to the ring did not go ahead.
