They’re made of very thin sheet gold. The museum simply describes them as ‘cut-outs’. Other sheet gold appliqués from Mycenae are described as repoussé (relief shaped by hammering/punching from the back). Their standardised appearance does seem to suggest use of a matrix

Beads with #Minion eyes 👀 Made of yellow, blue and white glass. Found in Vicenice, Czech Republic, dating late 6th/5th century BC. So far, it has not been possible to determine whether the pearls were imported from the Mediterranean region or produced locally. 🧵1/2 📷 me 🏺

Yesterday I visited Corbridge #Roman Town (Coria). Just south of Hadrian’s Wall, it was the most northerly town in the Empire. The smooth flagged floor of the town’s west granary is still looking good after 1,800 years! 🤩 #RomanSiteSaturday #Archaeology

At the site museum you can also see the Corbridge Lion, an impressive piece of sculpture from Roman Corbridge, dated c. 2nd- 3rd century AD. It was made to go on top of a mausoleum, and later adapted as a fountain head
