Being forced to use Outlook instead of gmail is still affecting my productivity two years later because I can’t just immediately copy a direct link to the email from the address bar anymore. Need multiple steps (and tabs) for that now, and each one is a dice roll for maintaining focus.

I'm not a physics or rail design expert by any means, but just with how shallow they are, I would guess you don't have to be going too far over the speed limit to get a train to jump those pavement rails?

SANDAG and electeds are coalescing around an enhanced bus service to the airport instead of rail. Not having 100% dedicated lanes and guideways would be worse than the status quo. Spending more money to have what we basically have now will be used to campaign against transit for years. (2/2)

It wouldn’t be difficult to get to this size with a couple dozen high-quality images and potentially some short video files included as well.

In my experience, that would be the very lower bound. It might be closer to true for a document that’s mostly text with a few very simple graphics, but that size grows very quickly if you add images that I’m guessing, since it’s an investigation, are close to original quality from a digital camera.

There may not be video, but a Word or PDF document is much larger than the sum of the byte representation of each text character, and I’d be very surprised if the vast majority of this data isn’t made up of images. I’m not sure how or why there would be such a large volume of only text.

Depends on individual image size/quality. You could get to this size with a handful of high quality images or a few minutes of HD video.

I highly doubt they’re talking about plain ASCII txt files. The largest video on my phone is 2 minutes long and about 200 MB.

If you can just blame the school for closing and depriving children of access to food, digital learning resources, or a safe place to go, you don't have to ask why they only have those things when they go to school.

Closing schools per se was not what caused the damage, that harm was guaranteed by the inequalities that existed before that decision had to be made. The endless school closure "think"-pieces misdirect from issues that should've been highlighted by the crisis.

827 was a 2300, 8200, or 8300 bus (I can’t remember which) in El Cajon until it got brought back in house sometime in the last year because MTS owns all the buses and property and contractors only provide an excuse to create tiered labor because we don’t value transit and its workers enough.

The reality is that police tasked with enforcement for the purpose of pedestrian/cyclist safety are ideologically opposed to that goal and, in cities with liberal elected governments, they are outside civilian control for all practical purposes. (2/2)

If I recall correctly, it also overcame the fact that large numbers of grads commute by transit with a fee-waived pass for $0/month by assuming that every commute has a cost that is a univariate function of time and adding that to the off-campus cost of living.

Ours once hired a consultant to study if (i.e., prove that) our graduate campus housing was substantially below market rate. The study got the name of our regional transit agency wrong throughout, and it made assumptions such as that every off-campus grad pays for cable TV.
