wild dudes at the botanical garden today

i still feel a little weird post-op, i actually think i feel worse now than immediately post-op, maybe just because adrenaline faded and stuff. who knows. it feels like i can’t actually focus on stuff, wandering thoughts, etc… almost struggling w/emotional balance, too??? ugh idk

finished my first backpiece the other day! forgot to post about it because of emergency surgery 💦 but i’m so excited to be done with this piece, it took about 11 sessions ranging from 3-8 hours each.

hey guess who had to go to the ER and beg them to take him seriously multiple times for excessive bleeding from a surgical site, bc they said it’s a a low triage case, just for them to finally see him when he mentioned bleeding for 4 hours straight and immediately schedule emergency surgery at 1AM

only time will tell if i’ll allow the scenery around to eat me alive

some bees & wasps lately, i love how many different species there are in my garden since i planted a bunch of native plants. some specialists, some generalists, all something i love to see when i walk around my garden!!!

got some good colour in on this starbird sleeve, the rest is still healing grey lines/shading from about 12 days ago :3

i didn’t even share my art show panels or anything… ugh. i’m so bad at social media lately. i ended up only taking one piece home, my gouache oyster, caraquet! thank u all for the support, as always

guess what! still holds true haha. we got home last night… ac always fills my heart with love & creativity, the staff— not just ac, but the dlcc, hotels, and restaurants, attendees, everyone is so great and it’s such great energy. heat & humidity definitely sapped a lot of energy from us all haha

some watercolour sunflowers from before my break… i like adding a good foundation of black & grey under watercolour stuff so that if all the colour fades away it’s still recognizable, but also understanding that the watercolour look softens over time!

scanning in some of my tattoo stencils today... here's a fun look at a sketch to completed liner of a tattoo drawn to fit as an underbust! it was a pretty complicated fit to get right so i traced my client's body after drawing on her!

enjoy a bunch of bugs i’ve seen the past two days— i feel pretty normal at this point in my recovery, minus an occasional tightness in one incision, which is a normal byproduct of scar tissue forming. been doing a lot of short garden strolls lately!
