The numlock is quite a potent proof of life. It proves: USB power USB connectivity Mainboard functionality all in the span of a second. Key in my line of work.

One thing I try often is using a USB OTG port if you have one, If not they are cheap. Plug a boring usb keyboard into it and see if you can toggle the numlock, If you can, the computer is actually doing stuff in the OS. If not it may be brain dead.

Try and see if it will do something to actually show a sign of life other then that initial power on vibration. Prove it posts and boots to the OS if you have a way. Otherwise it may be for naught
