if you guys want to really help a cause close to me, chip in to the west texas pride center. they do extremely necessary work in a less-than-hospitable area. your support, comments, and shares will make a real difference: www.pridecenterwt.org

they're not on bluesky, but i really appreciate the work the Inside Books Project does for Texas prisoners. I'm proud to donate to them, hope you'll check them out and support them: insidebooksproject.org

i really enjoy the work @prisonjournalism.bsky.social does. a report about how incredible it can be to have a good mirror in prison got me thinking about the necessity of being able to see your real, physical self.

this whole country believes kids should starve if their parents can't work, that cops are social workers, and that coming here is a "crime" punishable by various active and passive forms of mass death when the love of sadism and violence is this strong, everything should be questionable

absolutely. the victims of racism need it: they need lots of good, trustworthy options given to them. it can't be dealing with slurs one minute and the CJ system the next. racists definitely need a change of environment: they are far too comfortable. they're never found questionable for power

we do these things in bits and pieces already, but they need to be concerted. we're losing the country to racists and anyone who can push a big giant button labeled racism when they have dump trucks full of cash. while they do that, the vulnerable feel more vulnerable and abandoned.

another thing that helps is arts and education. i needed more arts in my life sooner, more "find your voice" at a younger age. some people are just seen and heard no matter what they do. others are easy to pass over. and knowing my heritage absolutely matters. you gotta know who blazed a trail

i think another way to create harder targets for bullies and bigots is help out the incarcerated. don't let the criminal justice system victimize whomever it wishes. uplift the vulnerable. get them bail and books and supplies. make sure their voices are heard. don't let people be made invisible

we need a real plan to stop racists. asking people to fix their hearts isn't going to work without pressure. one thing i'm a fan of is making the targets of bullies and bigots harder to mess with. don't let people just say shit about muslims or trans people or migrants. don't nod to avoid conflict
