Coming to games writing late, I was surprised how light the editorial pass was at most sites. I've had a few editors who've done strong work, which I've appreciated greatly (shout out to @kohler.bsky.social, @carolynmichelle.bsky.social, and @jasonbwilson.bsky.social), but that's the exception.
Peter GI've very rarely had editors do any kind of editing of my work while in games media. It has made me feel very self-conscious because I'm not sure if I'm writing anything good or not. It has also robbed me of opportunities to grow out of bad habits because I don't even know if they are bad.
