There is a cost of time to cook fresh food that people may not have or may not have the skills to do. Maybe at more traditional grocery stores healthier food is more expensive but especially when buying weekly specials, the fresh stuff doesn’t seem like it costs more at ALDI anyway.

I shop at ALDI so this may be way off but…. It seems like healthy food generally isn’t more expensive than highly processed. Fish, eggs, veggies, fruit, nuts, chicken, beef. Compare a pound of Doritos or a TV dinner type thing to chicken or frozen veggies and per pound good stuff is often cheaper.

I think around 25% of US healthcare spending is diabetes management and treatment. If we started filling grocery stores with healthier food and took a chunk out of diabetes issues, the US might fall into “recession”.
