Sometimes I look at all the intelligence that built up prior to the PLA committing and it’s amazing how anyone could have ignored it. I guess you could say the same thing about SHAEF before the Battle of the Bulge. We wished it would go away. Pride before the fall I suppose.

I still have mine kicking around too

It sounds SO silly now looking back. How dare we judge anyone trying to help back then. We all just wanted to do something, anything. Nobody had time for politics.

The early days of the pandemic were MUCH scarier than any fire, shooting, stabbing, etc I ever went to. I sat in my truck and SOBBED that December when I was able to get a vaccine. I was thankful I’d at least have a chance if I got sick. We just didn’t know. That unknown was wrenching.

The mental health crisis in America worsened severely after. I know people who have completely changed on both sides. Some still won’t go to dinner without an N95, others are educated health care providers who RAIL against vaccines.

I really have tried to put that part of my life behind me. Therapy helped. It’s not political. It shouldn’t be.

I was still working in EMS during Covid. Nobody knew what would happen. I was brining in patients who got sick, would de sat, get tubed and be dead in 48 hours. Healthy adults. Respectfully a lot of you cannot understand what those early days were like. We truly did not know if we would die.
