the PS2 slim was the refined compact and last variant. worked just as well if not better than it's earlier counterpart. We had the classic 'brick' but it suffered overheating.

Yep! they both do, the PS2 had it's controllers, cables and memory cards so I can play the games i kept. I was so fucking mad when i discovered there was a shortcut past the blockhead puzzle before Ninetails boss in Okami that had been known since 2008. I had been stuck there for YEARS.
