I’m a few chapters into this. So far pretty good. He does that thing people do with intellectual history where they play fast and loose with philosophers, but it’s ok. The core analytic point is somewhere between Wittgenstein and Levi-Strauss.

In New York you cannot use kalshi on weekends unless you live in yonkers in which case you can but have to be 26 years old, or if you live in staten island in which case you have to be 12 with the written consent of a parent/guardian, but can only use it between 4pm and 7pm on weekdays.
William B. Fuckleyone aggressive hardball thing I would like to see happen is blue states coordinating to have deliberately contradictory and difficult to navigate regulatory environments for hostile regime-aligned businesses such as X. what red states did with abortion pre dobbs.
this is a “blackout drunk and can’t quite stand up straight” level of incoherence.
Aaron RuparQ: Can you rule out that Iran is behind the water attacks? TRUMP: I don't think so. I think that Minnesota is behind it. You know who is behind it? Minnesota. Because they're grossly incompetent. I don't think there was an Iranian cyberattack. I think Minnesota ought to get its act together.
ANTHROPIC: "our sweet boy, the prince of peace, tried to steal people's phone numbers and money in order to create a fake account to pass a test. but never fear! he only did it because he thought it was a simulation."
ceejANTHROPIC: Our son loves humanity and for the low price of trillions and trillions of dollars will usher in an era of unprecedented peace and prosperity! OPENAI: Our horrible oafish son is hacking web sites without our permission. ANTHROPIC: (eyes narrowing) Our son is also evil
also, cruelty is bad!
Dr. Samantha Hancox-Lii remember the moment when i realized how sick i was of dogpiles. mobbing. of everyone saying the thing because everyone's saying the thing. i just didn't want to be part of that anymore. being committed to the truth means, occasionally, rowing against the stream.
Well, in light of Anthropic now disclosing that multiple models hacked into real companies during testing *and they didn't even know about it*, this thread seems pretty on point.
ElliotSuppose someone shows up at your office. Let's call him Bob. You don't know anything about Bob except that they're very smart and very fast, and they came from [big tech company]. They're not an employee, they're not accountable for any of the work they do, but they are super efficient at that work.
I’ve decided this is a big deal, actually. The implication is that post-training agent governance does not work, and works less as the task horizon increases. That is a massive problem for autonomous LLM operation.
ElliotThis paper runs against my style of agent governance that i’ve been evolving all year. Not surprising based on personal experience, but a bit deflating. arxiv.org/abs/2607.25398
