The objective is not higher efficiency, companies have done everything to increase control and most of the time this was at the cost of productivity. The objective is just cheaper and more.

I do think part of this is traditional corporate environments aren't built for it. This might also be my bias that most "business" people are so detached from how things are made and are uniquely subsceptible to woo. I do think this will change, but a whole bunch of legacy companies won't survive

Kind of like when every company selling retail goods had to use the words platinum or titanium or gluten-free. They're a stampeding herd with nothing chasing them, running mindlessly, knowing if they fail collectively they won't be accountable for their universally bad judgment.

Someone on here recently pointed out that investors are punished more for being late to the next big thing than they are for losing money on all the potential big things that come along. I think about that a lot these days.

I've noticed two manifestations 1) what you make on the next big thing is more than all the losses and 2) your fund makes money from charging fees and people walk away if your fund doesn't also buy in to the next big thing.
