PlayStation fans are planning a week-long blackout to protest Sony's disc-less gaming future

if you're boycotting them, no point in not playing what you already own, just never spend a penny buying a new playstation product again and cancel your PS plus until they revert course. and not just for a week

and if you can't do that for whatever reason (as stupid as it sounds "i cant boycott gaming", i won't judge), at the very least you can not buy anything on the digital ps store and buy discs and PS+ codes in-person at retail, to at least show there is still a strong market for physical purchases

IMO the easiest way to boycott a digital sales platform is to simply remove your payment information so it becomes burdensome to make an impulse purchase.

Yeah, my thoughts too; wouldn't shifting sales to physical media and abstaining from buying digital games from the PS Store be a more effective method of protest? If Sony sees that more people are buying physical games than digital games, THEN they'll probably reconsider...

Keep in mind that at the very least, the new God of War will have a physical disc release, so maybe making the physical version of that outsell the digital version would be a good idea to get Sony's attention... and maybe other PS5 releases that will get physical versions too

Yeah my big concern with a boycott of Sony is that it backfires because the only people participating will be the people who buy discs. If we all stop buying discs to stick it to PlayStation won’t they come away with the message that nobody wants discs and they’re right to ditch them?

i will never understand the "for a week" boycott attempts, it sounds so useless and stupid, like ah man the big corpo didnt care that i didnt buy a couple games n didnt play for a week oh well guess im gonna keep giving them money now while they keep doing the thing i dont enjoy, like ???????????

reminds me of people boycotting john reddit when they made reddit api access insanely costly and basically broke third party apps they specifically went "we're doing this for a week lol" so all it did was make it inconvenient to use the website that week and nothing of value was accomplished

Reminds me that there was supposed to be a Roblox boycott sometime in July but I didn't even hear about it existing until after the date passed and it didn't happen and everyone started to make fun of it
