That's why to USA-nians, whose main point of comparison is Evangelical Protestantism, the Catholic Church doesn't look that conservative, while to Germans, whose main point of comparison is Mainline Protestantism (even though they call it "evangelisch"), the Catholic Church looks very conservative.
