Which is why I refuse to let my boss get away with using it, without highlighting just how shit its output is. If this is the new “good enough”, then I can be more productive by turning out shit as well.

As I had to enquire of one manager many years ago, long before AI, “so you’d like me to do a lot of work very badly then?” You can have: Fast or Correct. Pick one.

In the latest round with my boss I sent him a description of the engineers pyramid. Fast, cheap, reliable - pick 2.

It has its uses. I am happy to use it to analyse and answer queries about rich data sets. Quantities of text based subjective script. With caveats. I need to be familiar with the data. I wouldn’t trust it on stuff if I was blind to the content.

It does not do analysis. It may be accurate in describing the contents some text, but that is not the same thing as analysis. Even if the output LOOKS like analysis, it lacks the logic for actual analysis. Be wary my friend, and verify everything it gives you before you put your rep on the line

Hi crmarvin. Your understanding of the term analysis may be different to mine. Plus your reply is rather patronising.

I'm dealing w/a boss who's pushing me to put my rep on the line based on LLM "analysis" that is anything but. Lots of smart folks think LLMs can do things they can't b/c AI companies and their LLMs lie constantly. Meant it as honest advice, no shade. Bosses will hold people accountable for AI errors

In my own small way I am the boss. And I am unimpressed by the wild claims of technology companies. It is an experience thing. In our set up we own the data and create the queries. We also have a career data scientist providing the human supervision.

Wish my boss was as aware

Your boss will get caught out. Eventually. Just keep the receipts. Emails etc. If he’s insisting on using AI to work on your orgs own data trouble can lie ahead if it is inaccurate & if it hasn’t been cleaned it won’t have been. If the data isn’t accurate AI and much else will fail.
