Purely my personal experience from a few years back: It's mostly stopped being something that you can pay a random local teenager $7/hr cash for, and turned into yet another gig-economy hustle job, e.g. urbansitter.com etc. In turn I suspect this is because high school kids are hugely overscheduled.
