Honestly I dont think this is what will do it. What you need to do is empty your wishlist. Show Sony that we wont buy games digitally. We won't even see them. Go on special. No pre-orders. No new digital games. Kep buying physical but no more digital store. And dump or reduce the ps+ subscription

7 days is not enough. It is lame and only shows that gamers are weak and don't have principals. PS, along with AAA, has caused a severe reduction of my own PS4 use the past 5 years. I started it up about 3 months ago after a year of abscence. Stopped again 6 or so weeks ago. Do better!

I am all for it and gonna do it, but a week is merely enough, as we are the minority I am afraid this model doesn't get enough pushback in an era of people buying iphone every 2 year. It seems like people are giving up.

PS4 slim was the top level for PS. Then they came with a non-sense shape which does not fit my backpack (I traveled with my old PS4 a lot) and now there will be no longer disc games. What else. Well after playing my PS5 at its best, i am not buying anymore a console from them. This is it.

A boycott with an built-in end-date will never work because companies can plan around them. The thing that will hurt Sony the most, if you're that committed, is cancelling your PlayStation Plus subscription. Sony's banking on PS+ as it tries to squeeze more money from existing users at this time.

The timeframe is to get folks interested and willing to do it. The 1 week isn't a contract. Sometimes boycotts like this go on for a very long time. Like how many of us still refuse to watch the NFL.

Imagine if folks stopped updating their PS5s, no more firmware updates and learned about freedom with security researcher anti-ShackleTech breaking tools, aka jailbreak. Learning to own what you purchase apparently has to be regained for a large majority ruined by manipualtive media.

Speaking as someone who hasn't purchased a ps5 game in over a year: this won't work. You're going to have to actually commit to not giving Sony money for the foreseeable future

Your individual 1-year lack of purchases isn't impactful as 100M+ users doing it for 1 week/longer. You weren't buying before this, so it wouldn't show a protest impact unless joined with others. Doing it alone for personal reasons is different from organizing against current anti-consumer policies.

Lol all good. I don't think anyone is saying stop playing games. At least that as far as I'm aware. The thing is stop making any digital purchases and only purchase physical. But even for 1 week you could do. You got this.

But if the boycott only lasts a week, isn't everyone just going to buy the games they wanted as soon as the boycott is over? Also, the thing we're all replying to is telling people to shut off their PS5s for a week.

My bad I meant to add the "forever" there. No one is saying turn off or stop playing forever. It's 1 week. Go longer if you want or not. It's shows a lot of you have no clue how to boycott or stand on business.

This is dumb, it isn't going to accomplish anything. My PS5 hasn't been on for a month. I only play offline. Stop buying digital. That is the only thing that will send a message to Sony.

Your individual PS5 not being on for 1 month isn't as impactful as 100M+ users doing it. 1 week seems small, but small adjustments sometimes encourage larger outcomes. I do agree stopping digital purchases & buy physical games only is the bigger impact. PlayStation cares about overall revenue.

Are you seriously asking that? If millions of people stop using online services, buying games, or making microtransactions for a week, that causes a massive, immediate dip in active engagement and short-term revenue. That's literally how a mass boycott works. It definitely hurts the bottom line.
