This one for the Chinese, who don’t understand superheroes in the first place, so we gave them Shang-Chi, about everything ELSE!

? superheroes are incredibly popular in China. and Chinese literature is full of superheroes, dating back many centuries, for example, The Water Margin & Journey to the West.

Now, jump forward to CURRENT China, where they don’t understand why an anonymous vigilante would take over the duties of the State’s hardworking police. Which is why Shang-Chi spent its time on everything ELSE Chinese audiences wanted: CGI monsters, wuxia battles, cute city romcom and family drama.

"they don't understand" is an absurd generalization. as for the subtleties of dealing with oppressive police, Chinese authors and artists are some of the most advanced in that regard. Three Body Problem, for example. okay, be well!

China was closed off from Western culture from the 50’s to to the 80’s, and missed a few things. Like, 70’s Star Wars mania, for ex.: When the Prequels arrived in the 00’s, some Chinese sympathized with Vader, and the need to restore order out of rebellion. And ask why they tried to ban Zootopia.🤭
