when Amanda Palmer's complicity in her ex-husband's crimes was made clear, I was pretty devastated because she had represented a kind of honest and earnest artist that I looked up to. a friend told me to embody those qualities instead and be the better version, to take the good and grow with it

With the disappointment in all these people we've looked up to lately, I have a question. Can we all look for the hero within, instead?

I loved the idea she presented in her book/TED talk about connection and how powerful it can be to see and be seen, and I've been trying to live that while also completely excising who she is to me otherwise because Jesus Mary and JoJo

yeah i identified with a lot of her songs and I loved how seemingly open and honest she was with her community of fans and it made the betrayal that much worse there were big moments in my life at her concerts but I cannot listen to anything of hers without feeling sick

We’ve been a big Amanda Palmer household since I was in high school c. 2007 and It’s been weird watching admittedly damaged people be outed as bad. I had hoped the ability to talk about your issues so publicly and unashamedly and clearly was a sign of purity of some kind. Can’t fall into that trap
