The Shakespeares were great. GE caused a 40yr hostility to Dickens. I still hate Hardy’s poems while loving his novels, and I loved Forster.

Stepdad was a medieval specialist so the Chaucers were a goodish experience, though he also thought Franklins Tale was a weird choice.

English teacher was a Baptist from Alabama who thought Cleo was no better than she should be and Anthony should have stayed in Rome with Octavia.
