I feel like the age at which people think it’s ok to allow someone to do things alone or babysit is a factor. I was babysitting neighbors at 11 and it was normal for people to babysit at 13. A lot of people wouldn’t let someone under 16 or 17 babysit now. Also cost & knowing community less.
