Man, this is such a nihilistic take. Forget Lord of the Rings. My kids have watched The Wizard of Oz. The Godfather. Planet of the Apes. TONS of classics that are quite a bit older than 30 years, and they’ve enjoyed and appreciated them all.

When I was a kid a substantial portion of what I watched was 30+ years old. There were whole TV channels devoted to it!

That's how I got into monster movies and kung fu movies. In New York on channel 5 they had Shaolin theater on Saturday afternoons.
