Ehhehe my clanker educated me on something! I don't know if it's entirely correct and not going to check, but interesting. I was wondering why for some psychological queries I get a lot of new age stuff on Google, but searching with a model gives me way better results. So asked the model cuz bored.

This is why I prefer all of my LLMs be local; I'll let them search the internet if/when it is necessary. 🤓 No commercial product is going to have your best interest or intentions at hand when making a decision about how to serve you.

Only use I have is really searching the web. Can't trust their "logic" and any writing task outsourced would just have me checking everything, rearranging and fixing the language, takes the same amount of time as just writing the thing up myself but is much more tedious and less educational 🙃

They work well for explaining some physics 101 concept to my kids in five different ways for example, when this information is all over the training data, solid and uncontroversial.

What I work with is usually recent things that are not too clear, sometimes controversial and with possibly five differing expert opinions about them, and not in the training data the same way, so whatever a model "thinks" about it is usually absolutely useless.
