A good 2B pencil for sketching, one 6B for softer/messier lines and one 2H for lighter/faint lines. Try and get some thicker paper with a little bit of texture, but it is not mandatory Try to get at least the 2B. As for brands, Faber-Castell is very good. Staedtler if you are feeling fancy
