I feel this isn't a good thing consoles without physical games is just not right and also all the ways to get cheaper games from third party sellers will disappear for console users no more going to a shop and finding a game half price as the official store on the console.

I’m wondering how aware of this announcement Steam was? It’d make a lot more sense for them to make the Steam Machine, even with the crazy price it honestly may be worth it now since the game deals will be better with them than Sony with the PS6.

Optical media is no longer being developed as it has no appreciable market and games no longer fit on the discs. It’s just reality.

Leads me to believe the rumors of a hybrid device option are true, and they have no interest in cartridges for it.

I use my PS5 as a 4K Blu-Ray player but otherwise play digital games to save space. Discs can also age and degrade out of use, but there should be protections and regulations to protect people's purchases.

Offensive? No, I’ve been buying digitally since the PS4 launch and it’s fine. Lost access to one game in 12 years, Concord and they refunded it right away. This is typical faux gamer(tm) outrage.

But my son can play his physical copy on the PS at my place or his mum's place. Digital can only be played at both if bought on the primary box irrespective of family membership and that is shitty. PC gaming about to make a resurgence.

Announcing you're ending physical content... to go all digital, mere days after your in the news for deleting digital movies purchased by your customers (with zero refunds), is pretty fecking ballsy.
