Not really a shock decision though is it, consoles have been gradually moving this way. We all knew it would come.

yeah. this wouldn’t have happened if consumer spending wasn’t trending that way past the point of profitability. I haven’t bought a game on disk since 2013. almost every disk requires updates and partial online installs anyway. I fear it’s only a vocal minority affected by this.

PC gamers have had to watch their new physical media fade away since c2007 since that cursed Games for Windows Live DRM destroyed the resell value of 2nd hand discs, not to mention Steam was already in place fully formed
