Sorry to say that this one has nothing to do with Scotland, they were outbid and couldn't afford to compete with a private giant like TNT for the rights to the smallest (due to the hosting crisis) Commonwealth Games in 4 decades.
It was a choice for BBC. They were not willing to make a high enough bid. They haven’t even bought the rights to broadcast highlights which have are being shown on Ch5. BBC Scotland were already dissing the games after the opening ceremony
This wouldn’t have happened if the games were In Manchester
The BBC budget has shrunk over the last decade they are moaning huge layoffs at the moment - this isn't the biggest event its massively scaled back - I'd rather they spent wisely
