I'm not sure why British people are so self absorbed to think that this is all about them, it's really not. To the EU, you're just a non member state, no-one special.
This implementation has been a disaster, EU members and their airports & airlines are pushing for the same waivers to prevent chaos.

I use Eurostar a lot and have witnessed the crazy queues since 2022 before the new EES checks.
A lot of the chaos is down to brits who have simply not joined the dots between brexit and becoming non-EU nationals and usually shout "but we were never in schengen!".
I should add, they have reclaimed some retail space at St Pancras, from where benugo used to be for the new EES machines.
worth noting, that when the EES checks were designed, with the British, in 2014, nobody thought the british would be stupid enough to vote to become non EU nationals.
