Smokey Bear was found in the NM Capitan Mountain Gap 1950 fire. Burned paws and back legs but remarkably alive. He sadly lived his life in the National Zoo, dying in captivity in 1976. Glad his legacy represents what’s right and good. (Last pic is the Capitan Mountain Gap where Smokey was found!)
