Yes, we're all going to live forever and age backwards, the people on the bleeding edge just need to work out how to read antibody names first.

Professor says to student: Order an antibody for beta galactosidase and choose the cheapest one. Student googles "beta galactosidase antibody, cheapest one". That's it I think 🤷‍♀️ A forgivable error but should have been caught by controls and review. Some vendors didn't help.

If you’re looking for a new antibody that you’ve never used, you usually go to previously published papers to use as guidance and to compare like for like. In this case is likely that someone from a “big lab” made the initial mistake and then it got replicated 😬
