It's entirely possible. Speaking as a concept artist our work can be taken at any time and assembled into slides by people who aren't artists, without our input. Our work is owned by the company and can be presented any way they want.

FWIW my initial assumption when I saw it was never that the art was AI generated, but that someone on the art team who didn't know better was using ChatGPT like Wikipedia to pull what they thought were factual design notes. It sounds like it was not added by artists, though.

Based on what the artists are saying, it seems like it might be dummy copy. The words wouldn't be all that easy to read from the audience, so at a glance this just scans like the kind of internal design notes people expect to see on a reference sheet, making it look more "official"/interesting

No one should be using it referencing ChatGPT, though? Ever? For any reason? That should be grounds for termination and violation of contract (art theft/fraud)

the art itself wasn't made using chatgpt or any AI. the only thing on the slide that references chatgpt is a note (not made by the artists), saying that 'according to chatgpt, East Easian culture has an emphasis on beard'. that is not the artist using chatgpt.

that is someone (later, in marketing probably) adding that note to a powerpoint slide. And as shitty as it is, many companies do promote employees using AI or even have their own integrated AI platforms, so it wouldn't necessarily be grounds for termination. shady? maybe, but not fireable.

I think someone essentially screwed over everyone else on the project by gormlessly dropping what they thought looked like a good reference into a slide as decoration and no one else noticed. There should be consequences and also this should serve as a warning to other companies to not be lax.

Sounds about right. Which feels like a trust violation *of* them more than *by* them. Plenty of time to fix it, but there's plenty of other stuff this franchise is struggling with which gives pause...
