Deltarune ch 3-4 announced on same day as Switch 2. Release date same as Switch 2. Why is Nintendo influencing an indie, non-Nintendo-exclusive game this much?
Because Toby has explicitly said that he wants everyone to get the game at the same time to avoid a ch1+2 situation where the game is all but known by the time it came out on console. As for why on switch 2? Probably just good optics and near summer break so people will have time to enjoy.
He doesn't have to wait for switch 2 tho? It's also coming out on switch 1, PS4 & 5, Windows, and Mac, and runs on Linux with Steam Proton, and it doesn't exactly need a high power PC to run. Releasing before a brand-new console isn't leaving people out if it's already on 5 platforms.
Like I said just probably good optics, everybody's posting about the switch 2 on launch day, your game coincides with it. There's eyes on it, more sold. Also Toby has a history with Nintendo, y'know given he has smash representation, made a switch boss, and started with romhacking their games.
