The company involved is American but the lettuce is coming from their farms/processing facility in Mexico, where they can treat their workers even worse than they do inside the US.

okay i found the reference for the farm in question being in Mexico, thanks, hadn’t seen that yet. The second part i still think is probably up for debate.

Logic suggests that the second part is probably at least partly true, given how many US agriculture workers come from or through Mexico. It's also true that Mexico has very strong environmental law on the books, but too often lacks the resources (or sometimes the will) to implement & enforce them.

I don't know if the CDC even counts as a good source anymore but www.cdc.gov/cyclosporias... traces to central Mexico. The other point may be harder to provide a citation for; on paper Mexico's labor laws these days are pretty good but American corps aren't there for no reason.
