Oh yeah, I'm totally sure that if there's a conflict between a nineteenth-century provision of the state constitution that would seem to favor Democrats and a recent state law that wouldn't, the Republican-dominated state courts will rule in favor of the Democrats.

UPDATE: I've been sharing that Beshear has until August 4 to appoint a dem to McConnell's seat. That's not correct. There is no cutoff date. The August 4th date came from this language in the KY constitution, but it only applies if Mitch's term wouldn't end this year, and only for special elections.
