My character lore is in this spirit realm called Elysia. It's a sort of 'afterlife of everything,' a crossroads of the memories of living things, fiction, and places. Even the plants and fauna present there are transcended. Angels are a race of playful hedonists living in the skies above this world

They aren't puritan at all. They were once subjugated by a tyrant of immense spiritual power who corrupted their immortal hearts with shame and misery. After much strife they broke free, and now their mission is to spread unrepentant joy and break the shackles of shame across all creation

Hedonism is essentially their religion, but not through debauchery. Elysian angels are like monks - quietly contemplative, reverent, and pious. Fun is blessed. To indulge is a precious gift. To make love a holy rite; fostering kinks is enlightenment. Joy is sacred. as it can always be stolen away.
