The *first* comment on The Sunday Times interview with Emily Wilson about her translation of The Odyssey and views on Nolan’s film is: “Tattoos are never a good idea.” Some bloke more bothered by the surface of Wilson’s arms than her extremely interesting thoughts.

Read today that since Nolan announced his adoption Wilson's translation has shifted a million copies (across all formats) so safe to say, despite all the internet toxicity, she's having the last laugh.

I came across the clip of her reading from her translation where she pulls back her sleeves as she talks about “bearing arms” to reveal her arms covered in Greek myth inspired tattoos and that’s when I thought maybe the classics are interesting… and now I have 3 different translations of the Odyssey
