I think people have seriously and genuinely forgotten, or maybe they never really appreciated, just how much of an advancement formal anti-racism as a legal construction made from 1789 to the late 20th century. The fact that having a racial constitution makes you an anomaly today is excellent.

Most states in the EU are definitively, affirmatively, clearly legally defined as states of all their citizens.
