Let's do some simple math, shall we. Estimates of how many people have had some variant of covid reach over 70% of the global population. That's about 5 and a half billion people, conservatively. 1% of that? 55 million people.

Viral spread and viral mutation is directly proportional, more infections lead to more viral replication, which vastly increases the statistical probability of new mutations emerging and possibly something more vaccine resistant and / or higher mortality rates

And that's 3 million WITH ALL OF THE GLOBAL RESTRICTIONS AND VACCINE RATES WE HAD. If we let this run rampant global health systems would have collapsed. In some cases they basically did. And millions more would have died without health care workers busting their asses in the face of harassment.

Plus, SARS-CoV-1 and MERS, closest relatives to this virus, have case fatality rates of 10-35%. *That* was what the benchmark was and a reason why scientists were so concerned.

I will never forgive this class of people for causing great-war-scale excess death by repeating things they had every reason to know were completely false to exploit others who would automatically believe them. And they will never ask anybody for forgiveness anyway.

It was held at 1% BECAUSE THE VACCINE WORKED.

And COVID was simply the best rabble rousing time they've ever had, and had the biggest political payoff, and they'd love to bring back that dynamic.

And of course they can't pin the blame for being told what to do on the actual US president in 2020, so they have to find a scape goat.

They are also mad that Dr. Fauci interfered with their grifting in selling false cures by denouncing obvious snake oil salesmen. The Chinese accidentally or deliberately released bio-weapon theories are ironic because even if they were true, the actions taken to mitigate would have been the same.
