....was likely still segregating for a key reporter gene ( thanks to some painstakingly detailed investigations by Svenja Augustin, @augustinsvenja.bsky.social ). We have now prepared a correction, together with very supportive staff at eLife, to set the record straight, see correction notice here:

elifesciences.org/articles/112... . Our mistake affects only some of the conclusions of the paper, and I would like to apologise if our mistake has delayed or confused fellow researchers. As Svenja nicely summarised: always double check your transgenes. Lesson learnt.
