My sci-fi political sympathies have turned completely from the Three Laws of Robotics to the Butlerian Jihad. Thanks, tech bros. If androids do indeed dream of electric sheep, IDGAF. The sheep are probably plagiarized, and cost a midwestern town's entire drinking water supply to render.

Funny thing is the Butlerian Jihad was waged on robots that did what we wanted: they did all the work, took care of us, coddled us, and let us lounge around being lazy - protected us from ourselves. We killed them and replaced them with space feudalism, zealotry, and slavery.

There's no point in a life serving or being served by machines. It is like being an animal. Nonexistence, or else a life of war against all are preferable.

In mine, it's a generation or two from now, where AI is everywhere and totally inescapable. We're basically being tended like animals in a zoo, our intellect and ambitions being constantly pacified and defused for the sake of stability.
